Ellen L. Barton, Ph.D., joins the Interdisciplinary Fellowship from
her position as Associate Professor of English at the Wayne State University in Detroit,
Michigan. Dr. Barton is a linguist whose primary research interest is in analysis of
medical communication, with theoretical concepts and research methods drawn from the
interdisciplinary combination of linguistics and rhetoric.
Michael B. Gill, Ph.D., is an
assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy at the College of Charleston. In addition to remaining active in several
professional organizations, including the American Philosophical
Association, Dr. Gill has written broadly on such topics as Hume's
moral theory and the use of psychosocial criteria in organ allocation. He received his
Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina.
